Lucy went to her school friend's 4th birthday party tonight. Lucy jumped on the trampoline, played in the ball pit, went on the zip line and climbed, chased bubbles and danced herself silly. The highlights of the party were the blowing out of the candles (where another kid blew them out before the birthday girl was even at the table) and when there was about 10 minutes left in the party and Lucy wasn't finished eating. I told her that she could go play and then finish her dinner and cake at home. She replied, "Ok, but I'm just going to sit here and eat my pizza and fruit, because its healthy and you can save my carrots with my cake." And that's just what we did. What 3 year old makes sure the carrots are saved with the cake? Certainly, when we got home she ate the carrots and about half the cake. Good girl.
Another highlight isn't really a highlight but rather a peculiar observation that I have noticed over and over again when I take Lucy out and about. People love to hold her. I have no idea why. They think she's cute and petite and she is usually a bit smaller than the other kids, but she is never looking for someone to hold her. A couple teachers at school hold her, the teens leading the bday party tonight held her and when we have gone to plays, etc the performers will pick her up, but not the other kids. It is a very strange thing. She usually politely tells them that she wants to get down but sometimes she just sort of sits there waiting for them to do so.
Overall a great bday party and Lucy was hoping on the way home that when Ellery turns 5 she will invite Lucy to that party as well. We have a whole year to secure the invite.
