"Stttt!" That is Graham's word for "stairs". He is saying this nonstop now, for two reasons. One, I finally have the playroom put together after 2 weeks of painting and moving furniture around and the kids are loving the new space and the new arrangement of toys (note: it is amazing how imply moving toys from one side of a room to the other gives thema freshness that the kids love!) And two, he is obsessed with the stairs. He has been told many times that he can't try to walk down them, the rail still being above his head and therefore he can't hold on to it with any support. So now he is learning to scoot. He thinks this is big fun. He sits and scoots and makes his way down the stairs, only to get to the bottom and wanting to try it again.
The only problem is that we now have to go back to locking up the baby gate again. We had gone about a month of having a baby gate that wasn't tightly in place, and therefore more of a blockade rather than a babygate. He had learned to "stop at the top" and wait for somebody to help him down. Now, he is trying to get down by himself all the time and will just move the gate and head down by himself. So far, no falls, but it is a matter of time since he is sneaking off to tackle the stairs.
Harper learned to go down the stairs at about this age and only had two falls. Let's hope that Graham can do better than that.
