Folklife festival

We went to the folklife festival with friends last week. It was hot and crowded and Harper slept through most of it. The featured places are Bhutan, Texas and NASA, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. If you read this blog regularly, you could guess that Lucy's favorite was NASA. She in particular loved the lifesize astronaut which she talked to for about 15 minutes. She ended up in everybody's photos since she didn't want to leave and they all thought she was cute. This prompted a new list of things she will take into space with her: Daddy, Harper, Reggie, LaLa, a jacket, snacks, a helmet, boots, gloves and a few toys. An afterthought was to add me to the list, probably just to haul all her stuff.
The funniest part of the outing was at the end when we ducked into the American Indian Museum to feed Harper out of the heat. Lucy went down the benches from me to "talk to her Aunt Lauren". She actually had a conversation for about 20 minutes that, to an unknowing person, sounded like a real phone call. One onlooker said, "I pity your phone bill in a few years."
