Firetruck!

I invited the local firestation to join our playgroup this week. It has been on Lucy's things she wants to do this summer (an actual list we wrote down after the last day of school) so I had to oblige. More than 30 kids showed up. Lucy's reaction, as she was swinging on the swings, was:

  • Hear the firetruck

  • Begin cackling and giggling like some mad person

  • Scream that she needs to get down

  • Gets out of the swing, starts to run toward truck

  • Stops and begins sobbing with tears running down her face (too excited?)

  • Cries some more because she doesn't have the card she made the firefighters in hand

  • Grabs card, screams that she needs to be held (her reaction when she is nervous and shy)

  • Goes to the firetruck in my arms

  • Has a conversation with the firemen with her hand in her mouth the entire time

  • Hands them her card, smiles since they LOVE it

  • Eagerly goes to the fireman to sit in the FRONT of the truck, since she made them a card they say this is her special treat- she falls for it.

  • Never looks back. Could care less that I am there. Wants anyone and everyone, and especially Kimberly, to take her around the truck to see all there is to see.

  • Checks this one off her summer "to do" list. Next item, hit the beach!
