no pics!

863 posts and I am officially out of photo space on my blog.  I will now have to resort to buying space.  It's all worth it, it's only about the price of 5 sheets of scrapbook paper per year, and I don't have to actually do any scrapbooking.
So no fears, we will return with plenty of photos very soon!

Oh that's bad, no that's good!

Harper was sick, really sick last Monday.  She was vomiting, passing out, just-not-good sick.  Lucy had school and then a playdate and that left me to take care of Harper, oh, and Graham.  He couldn't stand it that he wasn't allowed to play with Harper.  He would break down her door and go to her bedside and stroke her leg and say sweet little things to her (no idea what he was saying, but they all seemed very nice).  He would take her books and toys and desperately try to get her attention.  She was too sick to notice most of the time so he took to pestering me and whining and asking for "Barper and Woozy".  So, it was not a good day for Harper at all, with the highlight of the day being when I went in checked on her, she was running a bit of a fever, but not high enough to give her medicine. I decided to go downstairs for a few minutes to start a load of wash (since it was quickly piling up due to the fact that she refused to get sick in the toilet or trash can, but rather all over herself and whatever else was around.)  Not a minute after leaving her side I hear her cry out and I quickly headed upstairs, where the scene of the crime was a gruesome one indeed.  She was standing in the hallway, getting sick all over both walls, a closetm herself and the floor and there was her best buddy, Graham standing an inch next to her, looking like he was witnessing the most horrifying thing ever.  he was holding a toy, which he promptly dropped in a pile of vomit.  Bad day, for sure.
I got Harper settled and she fell asleep for the next few hours, during which I took Graham outside, to a surprisingly warm day.  It was in the 70s!  We went down the slide, for a walk around the court pushing his grocery cart and pulling his little dog toy, we played hide and seek and walked around with sticks, we chalked, played with bean bags and plastic eggs.  We had this great little oasis of a day in the middle of a really terrible one.
Harper missed it, but she was back on her feet the next day and able to enjoy some of the nice weather later in the week, just in time for Lucy to get the same bug.

If you like it so much then why don't you...

Ok, so it might not be appropriate, but I think Lucy has the cutest little booty around.  And I told her so today. 5 years of jumping have paid off, is all I'm going to say.
So today, hours after my compliment towards her little rear, I was looking through photos to frame for our family room.  She says, "Mom, since you like my booty so much, why don't you take a picture of it and frame it for the basement?"
Compliment her bottom, and it goes straight to her head!

What you talkin' 'bout Harper?

Harper has entered the hilarious phase of imaginary everything.  As we all know, Lucy mastered the world of imagination: imaginary friends, naming of her hands, imaginary dogs, and so on and so on, in what we affectionately call "Lu Lu Land".  Well, Harper is creating her own world.  We are not fully there yet, but it is creeping up on us.  It is starting with her arguing with herself.  She will be sitting in a room all by herself and quite passionately argue both sides of a topic.  She uses hand gestures, she gets upset, she always wins (and loses) the argument.  It is quite a thing to watch.
She has also begun introducing her hands.  They are not named yet, but they definitely are characters in her never-ending drama, or soap opera.
And then there are her babies and littlest pet shop pets and stuffed animals.  They all play in her world with mush enthusiasm and many stir up a bit of trouble on their own, which she promptly stomps out.
It may not be Lu Lu's world, but it is indeed a world not so far, far away.
